The company Potain was established within La Clayette, France in 1928. Since that time, the company has grown into a leading producer of cranes. The company is responsible for over 100,000 cranes in operation all-around the globe. At present, the company makes more than 60 models from different manufacturing facilities inside China, France, Germany, Italy and Portugal. The company represents numerous different product ranges designed for a variety of applications. These machinery are sold through an international Manitowoc dealer network.



The Potain family makes 3 different tower crane families. The self-erecting cranes are the smallest kinds in the Potain range. These cranes vary from 1 ton to 7.98 ton capacity. The next size up is the top-slewing cranes that are both higher and bigger. These cranes range from 7.98 to 64 tons. Moreover, these are the biggest custom-designed special application cranes. These units provide a reach capacity of 160 tons.



The company's top innovations consist of LLC series of hoists, the Vision Cab and the Dialog control system. The growing reputation of the company has expanded their appeal with various models. Potain cranes are usually found on conventional construction sites, power stations, bridge building projects, ship-building projects and shipbuilding yards.



Manitowoc has 2 of their biggest manufacturing facilities within the United States. The Manitowoc manufacturing facility is located within the state of Wisconsin. In this state, both the tower crane parts and crawler cranes are constructed in the state of Pennsylvania in the Shady Grove plant. Here both boom trucks and mobile cranes are manufactured. Regional offices are situated within Mexico and in Brazil.
